PURCHASE AND DISPATCH

How to buy Extrawheel?
The purchase can be made in our
internet shop or with our distributors.
We offer two modes of payment:

- On line, by credit card or bank transfer. Choosing this option will considerably speed up posting the dispatch. Extrawheel covers the commission on payment.
- Standard transfer. In this option the transfer of money takes about 6 days in international transactions. The period of 6 days extends the time necessary for posting the dispatch, reckoned from the payment receipt date. It is the Purchaser who covers the commission on payment.

How to specify the type of thread on the nuts?
The best way is to check the thread in a bike service; home-made measurements may be troublesome. Regrettably, it’s not enough to state the type of hub or brand of bicycle.

How and when will the dispatch reach me?
The dispatch ordered in our internet shop is delivered right to your door in 93 x 75 x 15 cm packeges by courier service:
- UPS (2-5 days) within the European Union;
- POCZTEX EMS (Poczta Polska – express delivery, 3-7 days depending on the target country) outside the European Union.

What’s the price of the delivery?
The choice of a country of delivery in our internet shop results in automatic charge of the transport price. When more than one trailer is delivered within a single order, the cost of transport of each consecutive trailer is 50% of the basic charge.

Is the dispatch insured?
Yes, it is. If the dispatch doesn’t reach you, we will send you another one at Extrawheel’s expense.

Can I buy the fastening (fork) separately?
We don’t sell the fastenings separately, however we remain at your service in duly justified cases -

Is the trailer sent in a condition ready for use?
Yes, it is. The only thing you need to do is make the adjustment and attach the trailer to your bike (see film).

WHEEL

Is the wheel included in the price of the trailer?
Yes, it is. Its size can be chosen when you make your purchase in our online shop.

Can I buy the trailer without the wheel?
We DON’T sell the trailers without the wheel.
In case you need to have it replaced, the way to do it is shown in the
operating  instructions.

What quality of wheels are factory-assembled to the trailer?
We assemble complete (with tube and tyre) front wheels by ItalBike (width at hub nuts – 100 mm).
28” – double aluminium wheel rim,
42-622(700x40C) T2/V66 tyre, aluminium hub;
27” – single
aluminium wheel rim, 32-630(27x1,25”) IA-2302-3 tyre, aluminium hub;
26” - single
aluminium wheel rim, 47-559(26x1.75x2) T2/V66 tyre, aluminium hub

How to choose the wheel size?
1. The most often chosen solution is a wheel the size identical to the size of the wheel on your bike. It looks good, you have extra spare parts at your disposal or even an entire wheel in case of emergency. You can leave the trailer behind when you go to get help; in many cases you can take it with you and haul the trailer on the damaged wheel (the trailer is much less loaded than the bike) or you can even hang it over our back using the adjustable strap.
2.
 The set: bike (small wheel) – trailer (big wheel) is chosen when ease of riding on a smooth surface like asphalt is more important to you than having a spare wheel.
3. The set: bike (big wheel) – trailer (small wheel) is chosen when ease of riding on uneven or soft ground is more important to you than having a spare wheel.
4. In the case of bikes with very small wheels, for instance 20 inches in size, a trailer with a 26” wheel looks better.

Are there different-size models available for the different wheel sizes?
Extrawheel is available in one all-purpose size of the frame; what varies is only the size of the wheel. The resulting difference in the load suspension height is small, equalling some 3 cm.

What width of a tyre will fit into the trailer frame and what width will fit into the fork?
If the wheel of the trailer is correctly aligned, the width of the tyre may be not much less than 6.5 cm (width of free space in the frame). In the case of the bike’s rear wheel the maximum tyre width for: 70mm.

What’s the weight of the wheel itself? What’s the weight of the trailer without a wheel?
About 1.7 kg.
Trailer without a wheel (with the fork fastening) about 3.1 kg.

TRANSPORTING BAG

How to choose the size of the bags?
The optional solution is to choose 60-litre bags: 35 cm in diameter, height before rolling up – 90 cm.
Those of you who prefer less load and better riding comfort should opt for 40-litre bags: 30 cm in diameter, height before rolling up – 75 cm.
See proportions.
The volume for both models is calculated after double roll-up

Does the watertightness quality change as the bags age?
The passage of time doesn’t have an adverse effect on the bags. They are covered with a solid material and they can lose their watertightness only as a result of piercing or serious wear-through.

USING THE TRAILER

Can you attach Extrawheel to any bike?
So far we haven’t been able to find a bike that would resist our trailer. The manner of attaching has been described in the operating instructions.

Can you attach to trailer to several bikes?
Yes, you can. It would be good to include in your order some extra quick release hub locks or sets of nuts

Is it possible that a loaded trailer may tip the bike over?
No, it isn’t, provided that you place the complete set in a position of relative balance. It is usually enough to lean the very trailer or the bike saddle against a post or a tree. You can also lean it on a typical prop (it is necessary to place the trailer at the right angle).

What spare parts would it be good to take with you on a longer journey?
The quick release hub lock. It may sometimes crack, as it happens with a bike.

Is there a speed limit when hauling a trailer that must not be exceeded?
You can move very fast with the Extrawheel trailer. It should be remembered, though, that a safe speed is one which will not be the cause of an accident. Just as is the case with the bike itself, it has to be defined by the rider himself, bearing in mind the external conditions, the rider’s own ability, equipment-related limitations and constraints following from the fact that a laod is being hauled.

Can the trailer be loaded only on one side? Up to what weight?
You can place even the whole limit on one side – 30 kg. You will notice, however, that the riding comfort has deteriorated, especially in off-road conditions.

How do you attach the trailer to a bike equipped with gears?
Bikes that don’t allow attaching the rear wheel using a quick release hub lock or ordinary nuts (some multi-gear hubs) are adjusted to couple with the trailer by placing joint nuts at the axle. The M5-threaded nuts, the same ones that you will find in the quick release hub lock, are assembled to the bike frame where the carrying rack is fixed. Screwing the nuts through its supports has a positive effect on the stiffness of such an assembly. See film.

Are the bearings replaceable?
The self-lubricating bearing rings of the fork fastening are forced inside it on a press. They can be knocked out and replaced with new ones. However, test results have shown that in normal usage their durability excludes the need for such a replacement.

Is the trailer fit for use in off-road conditions?
I don’t know a trailer that would be better adapted for use in off-road conditions - see film.

What’s the maximum load capacity of the trailer and its volume?
30 kg. As regards volume, the total capacity of our bags is up to 120 litres. However, when you have a light load the trailer can carry a lot more.

What materials is the trailer made from?
Frame – thin-walled steel section;
Fork fastening – quenched spring steel;
Mudguard – ABS;
Textile covering –
Cordura®
Mast and egde stengthenings – composite material;
Transporting bags – plastic-covered polyester fabric;

Nets – polypropylene line.

Are the nets resistant enough?
The nest are made of 4-mm polypropylene line and they can resist a lot heavier loads than are allowed in the opertaing instructions. Possible wear-through and cut-through may only appear in contact with sharp-edged items.
